A “specially good year” for the Alicante Airport. The data shows an optimistic future for this year, expecting to exceed the 11,5 million passengers at the end of it. This records has always shown the health of the tourism at Alicante, and the forecast is getting accomplished: May has closed with an increase of 12 percent and accumulated 16 percent.

For central summer months is estimated to reach 1.4 million passengers. Today Alicante Airport connects to 121 destinations. The key “is now in traveler loyalty.”

Optimism in the Alicante-Elche airport

The annual figure for passenger traffic (May to May) shows a balance of more than 11,100,000 passengers and makes trust AENA to exceed 11.5 million once the year ends. It would be an increase of a million travelers.

The airport director Santiago Martínez-Cava indicated that he expects this summer to overcome the increase of 12 percent reached in May

Martíez-Cava highlights that this rithm is widespread in all the AENA airport network and due to, in part, to the “instability” in the destinations in North Africa. And that their issue is to work on customer loyalty with “cleanliness, safety or signaling equipment and new operators” within the terminal, and also with more airport shops.

121 destinations are available from Alicante Airport, highlights the director, underlining Aeroflot flights to Moscow, with daily connection that will bring tourism with “high purchasing possibilities to the province” and the return of other companies.

A map of connections that “it is getting bigger”

This summer there are also new offers for the season: flights to Nantes and Bordeaux in France and Italy, this weekend Easyjet routes started with Milan and Vueling will start operating this week. There is also a new route to Palma de Mallorca operated by Airnostrum.

The Alicante-Elche airport has been the second fastest growing airport in Europe after Cologne. The forecast for the coming winter season is an increase of more of the 20 percent compared to the previous winter season. So far, Ryanair has announced a 17 percent increase in its operations.
